Paul is Canadian. He grew up in Québec, in the Saguenay region where the water is cold and you learn to get back in your dinghy fast! He started sailing when he was 10 years old. It was the beginning of a serious love affair. He never stopped sailing dinghies, winning competitions one after another and getting his Silver Sail from the Canadian Sailing Association.
As an adolescent, he crewed on an old schooner for two summers: La Marie-Clarisse II. The 115 feet schooner hosted tourists in the Saint-Lawrence and Gulf. As ship's boy, Paul saw the does and don'ts of sailing with inexperienced people.
In 2011, he took formal courses in sailing keel boats and crewed on regattas. All of this to finally decide to buy his own boat with his wife Geneviève in 2015. They settled on a Bénéteau 473 built in 2002. They have since sailed close to 15 000 nautical miles together, from Kingston Ontario to the Atlantic side of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland including the delivery of their boat from Beaufort SC to Québec City. They love to discover small, isolated coves and anchor for the night, with only seals, whales and birds around them. Paul has been involved in several sailboat ocean deliveries.
Paul has the rare ability to cook under high seas, and he is not a shabby cook! He loves to eat well and make the crew happy. He is a stickler for safety at sea taking precautionary measures to ensure everyone's safety on board.
As a C-Suite executive in the agrobusiness industry, recently retired, Paul can build and lead great teams. He also has internationally recognized certifications. In 2023, he got his Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Yacht Master Offshore sailing and commercial endorsement certification and in 2024 was awarded the RYA Yacht Master Ocean rating. He is able to determine his boat position with a sextant on clear days and nights. He is also versed in the manipulation of electronic equipment (radar, chart plotter, VHF radio, HF/MF radio, AIS) and can take care of many mechanical and electrical problems.
Paul can steer your boat in the right direction. Don't hesitate to call on him.
